Looking Back at June at The Magpie Centre

June was one of our busiest and most exciting months yet, filled with achievements, community spirit, and plenty of memorable moments. From competition success to a fantastic craft fair, we’ve had so much to celebrate-and we’re so pleased to share some of the highlights with you.

First-Time Success at the RDA East Region Carriage Driving Qualifier

We began the month on a high with an incredible result at the RDA East Region Carriage Driving Qualifier on Sunday 1 June. One of our participants, Aynsley, and the ever-reliable Harry took part in their first competition at this level, supported by our amazing team of staff and volunteers.

They started with a strong dressage test, achieving an impressive score of 72%, and followed that with a flawless cones round, finishing with no penalties. It was a brilliant performance and a testament to their hard work and partnership.
A huge thank you to RDA Woodbridge for hosting such a warm and welcoming event. We’re incredibly proud of Aynsley and Harry for what they’ve achieved.
Celebrating Jan – RDA Volunteer of the Year

We’re delighted to share the news that Jan, one of our long-standing and dedicated volunteers, has been awarded the RDA Volunteer of the Year.
Jan said:
“I am surprised and delighted to receive this award. Over the years, I have seen the difference the RDA makes to the lives of the clients. To see their confidence grow and the joy they feel at their achievement, whatever level that may be, enriches the lives of all those involved. Whether volunteering with lessons, maintaining the Centre, helping with fundraising events, or making cakes for Tea with a Pony, all us volunteers are happy to be there to ensure this continues.”
Jan’s dedication and compassion have made a lasting impact on so many people here at the Centre, and we couldn’t be more grateful.
A Wonderful Day at the Craft Fair

Despite the unsettled weather, our annual craft fair was a great success and a true celebration of community.

We were treated to fantastic live performances from Your Choir and the U3A Ukulele Club, which helped create a joyful atmosphere throughout the day. We’re also grateful to the many local businesses and groups who supported the event. Saint Engineering Ltd generously donated £200, RRT kept everyone well fed with a BBQ, Vince Ford brought the fun with his dog agility display, and Hunstanton Rotary hosted a charming vintage tea tent.

Thank you to all the stallholders, banner sponsors, volunteers, and visitors who made the day so special. Together, we raised an amazing £2,350 to support the work of The Magpie Centre.

Tea with a Pony in the Sunshine

Our popular Tea with a Pony sessions have continued through June, and we were lucky to enjoy some beautiful summer weather. These gentle, sociable afternoons are always a pleasure, and it’s lovely to see the calm connection between our ponies and guests.
A Special Birthday for Violet

This month we also celebrated a special birthday with one of our riders, Violet, who had a wonderful time with Pebbles. We were so happy to be part of her day and to see her joy during her session.
