Who Are We

The Magpie Centre – West Norfolk Riding for the Disabled – has been a vital part of the local community for over 30 years. Set within the peaceful grounds of Wallington Hall, we are a dedicated RDA Riding Centre offering life-enhancing opportunities through riding and carriage driving.

Since the construction of our purpose-built Indoor School in 1990, we’ve been able to provide lessons all year round, whatever the weather. Our location on the beautiful Wallington Estate also gives us access to scenic tracks, perfect for outdoor hacks and relaxing carriage drives that connect riders and drivers with nature.

Each week, we deliver more than 130 riding and carriage driving sessions to people of all ages and abilities, from young children to adults living with physical, sensory, and learning disabilities. These sessions support physical coordination, balance, confidence, and emotional wellbeing.

Our work wouldn’t be possible without the dedication of over 50 incredible volunteers. They support our riders and drivers in lessons, care for our ponies, maintain our fields, and lead vital fundraising efforts that keep the Centre running.

At the heart of everything we do is a belief in the power of horses to transform lives. Whether it’s achieving a riding milestone, building confidence, or simply enjoying time with our gentle ponies, every visit to The Magpie Centre is a step toward greater freedom, independence, and joy.
