Social activities for the Magpie Centre, home of West Norfolk Riding for the Disabled Association, got off to a fantastic start for 2023, with a Ceilidh held at Stowbridge Village Hall on Saturday January 28.
The event attracted 90 participants, who ‘tripped the light, fantastic toe’ to the accompaniment of Take The Floor, whose caller didn’t take ‘no’ for an answer, and who got everybody up and dancing.
Said Sue Richardson, a new recruit to the Magpie fundraising team: ‘The Ceilidh went fantastically well, and we made £870 profit for the Magpie Centre.’
‘The feedback was brilliant, and most of the participants want to be contacted when we do the next one. This may be scheduled for September, so watch this space!’
Sue continued: ‘We should especially like to thank Tesco, Hardwick, for much of the food, plus Beart’s of Stowbridge; Church Farm Rare Breeds; The Purple Patch and Fakenham Races for the wonderful raffle prizes they donated, as well as the team of volunteers who advertised the event, helped with setting up, provided salads and puddings, and also donated raffle prizes.’
As Sue summed up the event: ‘It was good to see everyone enjoying a dance and having fun.’
